Although I’m trying to eat as healthy as possible and increase my intake of greens, vegetables and legumes and work out regularly, I also use health booster to improve my immune system. My folks are always surprised by my weird health juices and potions (I admit they can seem pretty freaky), but I firmly believe that one can protect and strengthen its organism in completely natural way. I’ve tried and tested a lot different products, some made at home, some store bought and decided to review the ones that have helped me and had a positive effect on my body.

Here I’ll talk about two products, one I’ve been using for almost 4 years, and one that I’ve started using recently (all my reviews last for minimum 3 months, usually 6, so I can be sure in product’s effectiveness). A short disclaimer: all of the conclusions are based on my personal experience and the products have been used on my own safety and I am not sponsored by any brand. If you suffer any illness  please talk to your doctor first.

The product I’ve been using regularly for four years is black seed oil. It all started with my sudden allergic reaction to pollen in the twentieth year of my life. That winter I suffer a horrible sinus infection and had to drink two strong antibiotics. Six months later I had my first allergic reaction. Year after that was even worse. I tried many different prescription drugs but all they did was cover my symptoms. After two years of getting nowhere I’ve decided to take health into my own hands and started exploring the natural way of fighting my illness. That’s how I got to black seed oil.

Black cumin is regarded by many as a panacea and may therefore not be taken seriously by some, but for those inclined to dismiss folklore, it should be noted that these humble seeds have been found superior to almost every other natural remedy when used for autoimmune disorders, conditions in which patients suffer greatly because their own systems attack their bodies. Black cumin, especially when combined with garlic, is regarded as a harmonizer of the imbalance which allows immune cells to destroy healthy cells. The technical language to describe this property is “immunomodulatory action.” The difference between black cumin and interferon is that there are no known side effects with black cumin when administered in normal dosages. The saying goes that the beauty of black cumin is their capacity to restore harmony. The most dramatic results are achieved with asthma and allergies. These respond relatively quickly unless there is infection, in which case, the infection needs to be eliminated before the symptoms of immune weakness subside.

The best product of black cumin is the black seed oil. It’s made by cold pressing the seeds (temperature 60 – 80 Celsius). Studies have shown that black seed oil is an effective anti-oxidant, anti-bacterial, and anti-inflammatory remedy. As a result, it is often used to fight infections and strengthen the immune system. For most ailments, the recommended daily dosage is one teaspoon of black seed oil per day. The oil can be mixed in warm or cold drinks, or it can be added on top of many foods right before consuming. It can also be used topically as a chest rub for respiratory problems.

More about black seed you can read here.

”The black cumin seed is rich in polyphenols and tocopherols. It contains 36-38% of solid oil, 0.4 – 2.5 % of volatile oil, proteins, alkaloids, saponins. By its composition, black cumin is also rich in fatty acids (linoleic, oleic, palmitic and stearic). The main pharmacologically active substance is thymoquinone with its derivatives dithymoquinone, thymohidroquinone and thymol. Therapeutic effect of black cumin oil is the subject of many clinical studies. Its efficacy in problems with allergies and in the regulation of blood sugar levels has been confirmed. It is used in folk medicine to help a variety of health issues.” Text from

I’ve tried many different types of black seed oil, but this brand proved to be the best. Oil has, tbh, a strong, pungent taste and it’s definitely not my favorite thing to drink, but despite that I drink a teaspoon every morning. It’s dark brown and thickish.

It’s sufficient to say that during the month of August and September I can breathe. My nose is not clogged, and symptoms are almost gone. I do suffer an occasional itchy eyes syndrome, but other than that I feel great. Actually I haven’t been sick for more than 5 days during last four years.

The second product is also for this bran, a honey mixture named Fortemed.

”Polyfloral functional honey with cocoa, hazelnut, cinnamon, guarana and maca is a real treat and an ideal replacement for sweets. It is recommended to anyone who wants a natural dose of energy – athletes or students but also to those who simply want to enjoy the natural taste of hazelnut, cocoa, cinnamon and other tasty ingredients from this honey mixture. The string ends with the Peruvian maca which is, above all, famous for its medicinal properties.’‘ Text from:

Ingredients: hazelnut kernel, cocoa fruit, Ceylon cinnamon crust, guarana fruit, Peruvian maca fruits, floral honey.

The mixture is red and thick, with tiny crumbs, not completely smooth. The jar is not the easiest to handle because it has many edges so it’s difficult to get everything out.

I use this energy bomb every morning, one teaspoon, right after the black seed oil to neutralize the bitterness of oil. The taste of the honey is sweet and guaranish and makes an excellent energy boost. I melt it in my mouth and drink a glass of water afterwards. You can feel it kicking in 20 minutes.

What is your health routine?

T 🙂
